Melbourne – Nissan has expanded its top-selling X‑TRAIL range with three new front-wheel-drive e‑POWER hybrid variants and the debut of the adventure-focused Rock Creek grade, broadening the appeal of the medium SUV for both value-conscious buyers and adventure seekers.
e‑POWER line-up expands to front-wheel drive
Nissan has doubled the number of e‑POWER variants from three grades to six with the introduction of front-wheel-drive versions of the ST-L, Ti and Ti-L.
The new two-wheel-drive variants make Nissan's unique e‑POWER hybrid technology more accessible than ever. In e‑POWER, the wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor, with the petrol engine used only to generate electricity.
The two-wheel-drive e‑POWER variants return combined fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km, an improvement of approximately 11.5% over all-wheel-drive e‑POWER variants (which deliver 6.1L/100km). Combined CO2 emissions for the two-wheel-drive hybrid models are just 123g/km (vs 139g/km for AWD e‑POWER models).
The front-wheel-drive e‑POWER models are priced between $3,090 and $3,655 below their all-wheel-drive counterparts.
The move reflects a decisive shift in the medium SUV segment, where hybrid and electrified powertrains have overtaken petrol as consumers’ preferred choice, and where around half of hybrid buyers choose two-wheel drive.
Rock Creek makes its X‑TRAIL debut
In addition to the hybrid expansion, a distinctive new X‑TRAIL Rock Creek grade has been developed for buyers seeking a more rugged interpretation of its family SUV. Offered exclusively in seven-seat configuration and built on the all-wheel-drive ST-L, Rock Creek features unique exterior styling and bespoke interior detailing.
Outside, Rock Creek features a black V-motion grille, black roof rails, gloss-black door mirrors, a unique front lower bumper and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, complemented by orange accents on the front and rear badging and the alloy wheels.
A distinctive ‘three-slot’ horizontal grille treatment, inspired by the Nissan D21 ute, is exclusive to the X‑TRAIL Rock Creek. Headlining the Rock Creek colour palette is a new Baja Storm exterior paint, paired with a black roof.
Inside, durable ballistic nylon-trimmed seats feature embroidered Rock Creek badging, while orange contrast stitching across the seats and dashboard trim, along with an orange Nissan badge accent on the steering wheel, reinforces the grade's adventurous character.
Rock Creek also brings a technology step up over its donor grade, adding a 10.8-inch head-up display and a 12.3-inch full TFT instrument cluster.
X‑TRAIL Rock Creek is offered as a seven-seat four-wheel-drive petrol model priced at $48,315 — a $2,435 premium over the ST-L 4WD grade on which it is based.

“The new Nissan X‑TRAIL Rock Creek answers a clear call from buyers who want their compact family SUV to look and feel ready for the weekend,” said Steve Milette, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.
“Rock Creek pairs genuine, rugged attitude with seven-seat practicality, and gives X‑TRAIL a distinctive new character at the adventurous end of the range.”
“Expanding e‑POWER hybrid to front-wheel drive opens the technology to more buyers at a more accessible price, with the lower running costs that come with it,” Milette said.
“Hybrid has become the powertrain of choice in the medium SUV segment, and a two-wheel-drive e‑POWER X‑TRAIL puts us exactly where the strongest demand is.”
